Where to Turn
King David was not always "King" David. As he was growing up he was "Shepherd boy" David. For a while when Saul was king David was "warrior" David. When Saul grew jealous of David and sought to kill him, David became "fugitive" David. When Absalom came against him King David reverted to "fugitive" David again. Through every stage of his life David sang the same tune, a song he composed and the Bible tells us that David sang it when God delivered him from his enemies and when God delivered him from the murderous intentions of King Saul.
"The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer, my God is my rock in whom I take refuge,my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior;from violent people You save me. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and have been saved from my enemies." 2 Samuel 22: 2-4
Scripture calls David "a man after God's own heart". Regardless of the circumstances or situation, whether it was a catastrophe of his own making or if others sought to do him harm or injustice, whether he was living in the palace, in the lap of luxury or if he was running and living in caves with dirt for a bed and a rock for pillow, David knew this one thing, his hope was in the Lord. David turned to the Lord in times of need and in times of safety.
Where do you find yourself today? Does your situation seem hopeless? Do you have everything you could ever want and more? It does not matter where you are or what you have done, God is still your only source of true hope. He is your deliverer. He is your strength. Turn to Him today.
